Projects in Petrovac
For the first time Petrovac was mentioned in the chronicle of priest Dukljanin in the 12th century like a settlement called Lastva . In the 16th century Petrovac was under the Venice Republic reign. During this period the castle Kastel Lastva was built to protect the settlement from the attacks from the sea. Petrovac changed its name several times from Lastva to Kastel Lastva, Kastio and finally after the First World War got it's nowadays name Petrovac.
Petrovac is a small picturesque holiday resort. It is located between the towns Budva and Bar. It is one of the most popular holiday resorts along the Montenegrin coast. Close to the sandy town beach of Petrovac there is another sandy beach Lucice just 10 minutes walking from Petrovac.
The city is on a sandy bay, surrounded by dense pine forests. A very large number of sunny days annually, from early spring to late fall, the thick pine and olive groves, the warm, clean sea and wonderful beaches-all combine to provide a pleasant and lovely holiday for visitors It has a 600m long sandy beach, and is a popular tourist destination. It is seen as a somewhat "calmer" resort, as opposed to the vibrant surrounding towns of Budva and Sutomore.
Although Petrovac grew significantly during the last few decades, the traditional character and the charming atmosphere is almost completely preserved. On the walkway along the beach there are many small shops bars and restaurants. The town is still relatively small in comparison to Budva. Its advantage is also that there is not too much land available for large scale developments.
Located between two hills entering the sea and separated by beautiful own sandy beach and the beach of Lucici. Petrovac was stopping place for the Romans on the Adriatic. From that era there are the remains of two mosaics in Miriâte. The oldest name for this settlement is Lastva, for the first time mentioned in the writings of Pope Dukljanina.
In the 16th century Great Mleטani build in Petrovcu the Fortress Castello, where the Mletacki Army barracks was located. At the same period the the Sanitorium in Lazaret was built, which was also used as quarantine for the very ill. In the Bay of Petrovac there are the island of Katc with the small church Sveti Nedjelja, which apparently was build by a mariner saved there after a shipwreck.
For diving enthusiasts the two small islands of Katic and St.Nedelja are a real attraction. Legend says that St. Nedjelja was built by a sailor who, after he had a shipwreck, saved himself on that island. Buljarica field and the slopes of Dubovica hill are very convenient for the development of tourism. Buljarica cove stretches from "Resovo brdo" cove to Dubovica, and is a largest beach of Budva Riviera. It is 1 km away from Petrovac towards Bar, and is 2250 m long, pebbly. There are a few auto camp sites.
Lucice
This is a wonderful bathing locality which is still almost unspoiled despite the great number of visitors. The beach is 500m away from Petrovac. It has the shape of a small bay. It is 220 m long; it is sandy as is the sea bottom. The sea is very shallow and there are cypresses and pines in the background. There are also two restaurants.
Perazica Do Beach
Perazica Do Beach is in immediate vicinity of Rezevici monastery, below the highway. This small sandy beach is hidden in a deep valley. There is small marina for landing boats.
